Why does earlyReading Spanish- Letter Sounds have both Upper and Lowercase letters?

The earlyReading English suite includes both LS and LN. The LN is used to assess letter discrimination and LS is designed to assess ONLY sound discrimination. Upon the development of earlyReading Spanish, the content experts determined that LN for the earlyReading Spanish suite was inappropriate because the sounds and names in Spanish are so substantially similar that there is no need for two distinct assessments. The test design and development accommodate the specific language.
