FastBridge has organized its guidance and resources for mathematics instruction and intervention into the seven domains shown below, covering Foundational, Applied, or Advanced skills. The interventions are included as part of the Instruction Plans in the Screening to Intervention Report for Math (s2i-M). There are both whole- and small-group lesson materials available in the Training and Resources section of the FastBridge website. Each intervention includes eight sections and users are encouraged to examine all the sections of an intervention prior to using it with students. This article provides information about the Whole Number Operations interventions.
Whole Number Operations include the ability to accurately add, subtract, multiply, and divide automatically and fluently using:
- Whole numbers;
- Word problems containing whole numbers; and
- Other objects and symbols can be converted to whole numbers.
Whole Number Operations is one of three foundational skill areas necessary for math proficiency. Additional information about how best to teach Whole Number Operations as part of a comprehensive mathematics curriculum is found in the free practice guide Teaching Math to Young Children.
The FastBridge Screening to Intervention Report for Math (s2i-M) provides the best guidance for which interventions to use with whole classes as well as small groups. Go to the Training & Resources tab and select Whole Number Operations. The available FastBridge Whole Number Operations interventions include the following:
