FastBridge has organized its guidance and resources for mathematics instruction and intervention into the seven domains shown below, covering Foundational, Applied, or Advanced skills. The interventions are included as part of the Instruction Plans in the Screening to Intervention Report for Math (s2i-M). There are both whole- and small-group lesson materials available in the Training and Resources section of the FastBridge website. Each intervention includes eight sections and users are encouraged to examine all the sections of an intervention prior to using it with students. This article provides information about the interventions in the area of Rational Numbers.
Rational Numbers include any number that can be made from two integers; rational number proficiency includes automaticity and fluency using:
- Fractions
- Mixed Numbers
- Ratios
- Decimals
- Rational numbers to solve problems
Rational Numbers are one of three foundational skill areas necessary for math proficiency. Additional information about how best to teach Rational Numbers as part of a comprehensive mathematics curriculum is found in the free practice guide Developing Effective Fractions Instruction for Kindergarten Through 8th Grade.
The FastBridge Screening to Intervention Report for Math (s2i-M) provides the best guidance for which interventions to use with whole classes as well as small groups. Go to the Training & Resources tab and select Rational Numbers. The available FastBridge Rational Numbers interventions include the following:
