CBMReading - Why do the passages seem easy?

CBMReading is a measure of automaticity, which combines speed and fluency. Research has shown that as the complexity of passages increases, good readers slow down, while poor readers continue to read at the same rate. To account for this phenomenon, we intentionally provide passages with limited complexity to allow good readers the opportunity to continue to improve their speed, and thus provide a more accurate representation of their level of automaticity.
