The Screening-to-Intervention Report for Math (s2i-M) organizes math skills into three domains: Numbers, Operations, and General Math. The Number domain measures understanding of what numbers mean, including the ability to comprehend, estimate, count, and compare quantities, as well as to recognize numerals and relate those numerals to quantities.
Table 1 lists the FastBridge assessments used to identify risk in each domain. In Kindergarten and grade 1, the Number score on the s2i-M is based directly on one of the earlyMath subtests. In Kindergarten, earlyMath Number Identification K (NI-K) form is used in the fall, winter, and spring screening periods. In Grade 1, the earlyMath Number Identification 1 (NI-1) form is used in the fall and then the earlyMath Place Value (PV) test is used in the winter and spring.

In order to prevent additional testing, in Grades 2 – 12 an estimated Place Value score is used for risk identification using the student’s aMath score. Students in grades 2 through 12 will be considered to have high-risk estimated Number scores if they have aMath Place Value item scores below 191. Students in grades 2 through 12 will be considered to have some-risk estimated Number scores if they have aMath Place Value item scores between 191 and 198.
aMath scores are used to estimate risk in the Number domain in the higher grades because the earlyMath Place Value assessment is only available through first grade and because aMath includes items that measure place value skills. The cut scores are based on the performance of students on the aMath place value items. Students at:
- high risk have a low probability (<40%) of success on these items;
- some risk have a moderate probability (40% - 80%) of success on these items; and
- low risk have a high probability (>=80%) of success on these items.
