The Training Certification Management report is a tool that allows District and School Managers to filter and reset staff assessment certifications. With this report, you can drill down to an individual staff or assessment level, as opposed to the Certification Report, which provides a more systemic look at certification completion for each assessment.
Both FastBridge and Iowa strongly recommend a minimum of annual re-certification, although certifications can be reset at any time. Assessment certifications roll forward, so the primary use of the Training Certification Management tool is to reset certifications to allow staff to re-certify each year. Decisions about frequency of certification requirements and record keeping are the district’s responsibility.
Resetting Assessment Certifications
1. Go to Reporting
2. Click View Report under Training Certification Management
3. Filter as preferred by school (or all schools), assessments, staff member names and/or roles by clicking the down arrow next to the data element.
Tip: If resetting certifications for all staff, filter by Certification Status: Certified. If resetting certifications for all staff on a specific assessment such as CBM-R, filter by Assessments: CBMR-English and Certification Status: Certified.
4. Select checkbox to the left of the assessment line for the staff member(s) or Check All at the top of the column to select all filtered results displayed.
5. Click Reset Selected Staff at the bottom of the column.
6. Read the pop-up notification and click OK to continue.
7. The previous certification for the selected staff member(s) and assessment(s) are permanently deleted. Notification is NOT sent by the system to the staff member upon reset, it is up to the manager/district to prompt staff to re-certify.
Important things to know about certifications
-
Certifications do not transfer to other districts or buildings in FastBridge, if a staff member is reassigned or moves to another district.
-
The certifications will always display under the building and user account role where the teacher originally certified.
Considerations for district re-certification requirement decision making
-
Summer regression isn’t just for kids! Standardized administration and scoring produce the most accurate data, which is needed to ensure students receive the appropriate supports. It’s easy to forget or misremember little scoring rules when you haven’t used that knowledge for 5 months.
-
Just say no to the sink or swim method! Assists with on-boarding new teachers and supporting teachers in new roles and buildings.
-
Don’t get left behind! Keeps staff up to date on any changes made within individual assessments and supports the addition of new measures in FastBridge such as math and behavior (when applicable).
-
Like a cold Coke and Irish Spring, review is refreshing! In between annual certification, teachers and group proctors should review the assessment directions and scoring rules prior to the next screening window. Staff, including coaches, can observe administration of assessments and provide feedback using the “ORAA” forms provided for each assessment in the Training and Resources tab of the FastBridge system.
Still need help?
Follow your district's plan for support, usually by contacting your FastBridge District Manager. If your district doesn't have a plan, submit a support request in FastBridge or by emailing help@fastbridge.org (which also creates a support request). Don't forget to include specific details such as the name of the building, staff member name, type of account and issue. Do not use the chat feature or phone support number through Fastbridge, as your Iowa support team is not available via those methods.
