FastBridge has organized its guidance and resources for mathematics instruction and intervention into the seven domains shown below, covering Foundational, Applied, or Advanced skills. The interventions are included as part of the Instruction Plans in the Screening to Intervention Report for Math (s2i-M). There are both whole- and small-group lesson materials available in the Training and Resources section of the FastBridge website. Each intervention includes eight sections and users are encouraged to examine all the sections of an intervention prior to using it with students. This article provides information about the interventions in the areas of Data Analysis, Statistics, and Probability.
Data Analysis, Statistics, and Probability include skills necessary to understand sets of information, as well as scores and differences among represented groups. Proficiency in this area involves knowledge and use of:
- Measures of central tendency,
- Properties of distributions, and
- Data Analysis, Statistics, and Probability skills to address everyday problems.
Data Analysis, Statistics, and Probability are two advanced skill areas necessary for proficiency in mathematics. Additional information about how best to teach Data Analysis, Statistics, and Probability as part of a comprehensive mathematics curriculum is found in the free practice guide Improving Mathematical Problem-Solving in Grades 4 through 8.
The FastBridge Screening to Intervention Report for Math (s2i-M) provides the best guidance for which interventions to use with whole classes as well as small groups. Go to Training & Resources and select Data, Statistics, and Probability. The available FastBridge Data Analysis, Statistics, and Probability interventions include the following:
