Q: I get an 'unexpected error' message when I click on Start Form to progress monitor a student. How do I fix this?
A: We see this issue when the monitoring measure's level is removed on progress monitoring plans during setup.
It happens most frequently with off-level monitoring using an earlyReading or earlyMath measure because people get confused and try to select the student's grade level in the dropdown. However, some assessments, such as the earlyReading or earlyMath subtests, only have ONE level of probes. Those will be marked with a 'Gx' in the student's level field on the Monitoring Schedule page. That 'Gx' MUST remain in place or users will receive an error message (in the screenshot below) when they click 'Start Form' to administer the assessment.
Unfortunately, there is no way to correct the existing PM. Instead, you'll need to release the student from the existing PM plan and create a new one. Before you do, confirm that this is the issue using the instructions below.
How to Confirm Level is Missing
Click the checkbox to the left of the student's name and then select Edit Setup on the blue action menu that appears at the top. Go to Monitoring Schedule (3rd down on the list of sections to view) and look at the Level field under the student's name. If it is blank like the visual below, that's the issue. If it is NOT blank, submit a support request.
