There are two reasons why a PM plan will on the Inactive list:
The label listed under Monitoring Date on the PM list, will tell you why the plan is inactive.
The student was released from the PM plan
Someone in the district with access to the student released the student from the PM plan. This plan can't be restored. Once a student is released from the plan, it is permanent. A new plan will need to be created.
When you recreate the PM plans, we recommend setting the start date as the current week and selecting the next consecutive start form number to pick up where the previous PM plan left off. It's a drop down field titled Starting Form on the Monitoring Schedule setup page. This will allow the new plan to continue where the previous ended and the previous data to smoothly integrate on the PM Report.
The plan end date is past
Today's date is past the end date entered in the plan setup. To reactivate PM for the student, there are two options:
Option 1: Edit the existing PM plan to extend the end date. With this option, you will not be able to complete PM for the current week because the system will not provide a probe link but you will be able to complete PM the following week.
Option 2: Release the student from the prematurely ended PM plan and create a new PM plan using the instructions below.
- Create a new PM plan but instead of the original plan's start date, set this new plan with the current week as the start date.
- During setup, select the next consecutive start form number to pick up where the previous PM plan left off.
- These steps will allow the system to populate any previously collected scores on the PM report without form number overlaps.
If you can't remember how to set up a plan, see: Creating a Progress Monitoring Plan
Important note about prematurely ended PM plans
If your district has been using incremental PM plans (not setting the end date to the end of the school year), please see Iowa: Is the Intervention Working? Setting Quality Goals and Using PM Data for Decision-Making. Best practice is setting up PM to the end of the year and then releasing the student from PM, if a change needed. If you utilize the Panorama Student Success system for entering interventions for all students, not just those that are required to be entered into Student Success for ELI or Healthy Indicator reporting, you can evaluate the effectiveness of the interventions in increments using the Intervention graph without negatively impacting the progress monitoring data views.
