This article guides users through the process of creating non-teaching staff accounts in FastBridge with a FastBridge-Clever Integration.
Overview
Staff is the term Clever uses to refer to non-teaching staff users (e.g. administrative assistants, counselors), or users who are not assigned as a teacher of sections with student enrollments in Clever. Adding these staff members to Clever allows Admin to share the benefits of the Clever Portal and SSO with all users in the district. Learn more about Clever roles here.
Sharing and/or uploading non-teaching users in Clever is highly recommended to successfully set up FastBridge via Clever. Once set up in Clever, Admin can map non-teaching staff to a FastBridge user role (District Manager, School Manager, Specialist, or Group Proctor) in the FastBridge site.
Where to Start
- Begin at Step 1, if non-teaching staff users have never been added to Clever as staff before.
- Begin at Step 2, if non-teaching staff users have already been added to Clever as staff.
1. Create Non-Teaching Staff in Clever
Non-teaching staff can be added in Clever either manually (individual users) or by file upload (multiple users):
Manually Create an Individual Non-Teach Staff Account
- Select the Support tools dropdown menu.
- Select Custom data.
- Open the Add custom data dropdown menu.
- Select Staff.
- Use the dropdown menu to select school(s) or use the slider to Assign to all schools. (Required)
- Enter the user's FIRST NAME into the text box. (Required)
- Enter the user's LAST NAME into the text box. (Required)
- Enter the user's EMAIL into the text box. (Required)
- Enter the user's STAFF ID into the text box. (Required)
- Use the dropdown menu to select the user's CLEVER ROLE. (Required)
- Enter the user's TITLE into the text box. (Required)
- Enter the user's USERNAME into the text box.
- Only required if a district uses Clever Passwords, and the district username or password is needed for users to log in to Clever.
- Enter the user's PASSWORD into the text box.
- Only required if a district uses Clever Passwords, and the district username or password is needed for users to log in to Clever.
- Select Create staff.
Create a Non-Teaching Staff File and Upload Multiple Non-Teaching Staff in Clever
- Download the Clever Non-Teaching Staff file template.
- Enter School_id, Staff_id, Staff_email, First_name, Last_name, & Title into template.
- The title should reflect the staff member’s school role.
- Add an individual row for each school for users who need FastBridge access at multiple schools.
- The Username and Password field are only required if a district uses Clever Passwords and their username or password is required in order to log in to Clever.
- Save the file.
Upload the File into Clever
- Select Support tools dropdown menu.
- Select Custom data.
- Select Add custom data
- Select Upload records.
- Select Upload staff.csv. Then, upload the file from the device.
- Select Upload.
2. Share Non-Teaching Staff Users with FastBridge in Clever
Add Sharing Rule
- In Clever, select Applications.
- Select My applications
- Select FastBridge.
- Select Edit sharing.
- Select Add another rule.
- Select Staff members need access.

Use the PROPERTY dropdown menu to select a field.
- Rules determines which staff members are shared with FastBridge.
- Districts typically choose 1-2 fields to use as identifying factors.
- Create multiple Rules with different fields, if needed.
- Enter the corresponding VALUE for the Property field into the text box.
- Select Save rule.
Review Sharing Rules
- Select Next to review sharing rules.
- Verify Sharing Rules have been configured correctly.
- Select Share with application.
3. Map Users within FastBridge
In FastBridge, map user titles provided to Clever from the staff.csv file to the FastBridge account types: FastBridge District Manager, School Manager, Specialist, or Group Proctor. The nightly sync will capture the shared non-teaching staff.
- Select the District Manager tab.
- Select District Preferences.
- Select User Role Mapping.
- Select Add Row.
- Use the dropdown menu to select a FastBridge User Role.
- Enter the Clever API (Staff) Title to be mapped to the selected FastBridge user role.
- Separate multiple titles using commas (no spaces) or by selecting "Add Row" to select and map another FastBridge User Role.
- Listing two to three titles maximum per row is recommended.
- There are no limits to the amount of rows added in this section
- Select Submit.
